1 John 4:10
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Love is simple, it is not complicated. It does not take hours to examine or a Ph.D to discuss. Love is complicated only because of the connotations and extra "stuff" we make it into. In this passage we see the definition of love from God's viewpoint, which therefor, must be the very essence of what love is. Love is unconditional, unmerited, and unrequited. It does not require anything in return. We love our spouses not only because of what they are to us, but also because of who they are. God works the same way quite simply. Jesus loves us because simply who we are. He made each of us. To Him, we are all a masterpiece that He is going to perfect into eternity. Jesus love us because of who we are. Who are we? We are saints that are bought with Blood, THE Blood. That Blood is priceless, and it was given unmerited, unconditionally, and irrevocably. Jesus died for us whether we accept it or not, to pay the price for us. It is love because we didn't do a single thing for it. Its love because it is freely given.
Love is simple, we just make it complicated.
Here is my "Love Dare" to you... read this passage and accept it at face value. Don't try to explain it, just accept it. Don't add any translation to it, let the full simplistic meaning of it sink in... then share it with everyone else here...
